FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Temple College Business Training CenterGrand OpeningDecember 2, 2005 -- The grand opening of the Temple College Business Training Center and the Temple Business Incubator was held at 3:00 p.m. today. Speakers for the event were Diane D. Rath, chair and commissioner representing the public, Texas Workforce Commission, and U.S. Rep. John R. Carter, Texas Congressional District 31. After a brief program there were tours of the facility. Located in the newly-restored historic building at 19 North Main Street in Temple, the Temple College Business Training Center is a joint community project. The building is owned by the Temple College Foundation, and renovation of the building and development of the Temple Business Incubator is the result of the partnership between Temple College, Temple College Foundation, City of Temple, Temple Economic Development Corporation, and the Temple Chamber of Commerce. The three story building will become home to Temple College, Temple College Foundation, and the Temple Business Incubator and will provide classrooms for Temple College workforce and community education programs. Office space for staff working on the grant project to develop a biotechnology program is also located in the building. Renovation of the century-old building was funded in part by a $720,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration, a division of the Department of Commerce.
